The American singer-songwriter Anna Burch’s debut album, ‘Quit the Curse’, may sound like happy-clappy indie pop, but her lyrics are anything but. Burch sings about dark subjects, like destructive relationships, bad ties with a parent and alcohol abuse. The result: a refreshing sound with sixties choirs, gritty guitars and a touch of melancholia.
