Walking through the rural outskirts of Bunschoten-Spakenburg takes you through the polder and along a waterside path. There’s what is known as a ‘clog route’ (paths that go right through farmland in the provinces of Utrecht and Gelderland), which starts from De Hoop windmill in Bunschoten-Spakenburg. This is also a good place to park. You can’t go wrong on this 8-kilometre route; all you do is follow the blue clog-shaped signs. Afterwards, take a stroll past the authentic fishing boats in the museum harbour or visit a local shipyard inBunschoten-Spakenburg, which is traditionally a fishing village.
