In the mid-1990s, the United Kingdom was inundated with illegal raves, including seemingly endless supplies of drugs. In 1994, the government responded by introducing the Criminal Justice Bill, which made it illegal to ‘congregate around repetitive beats’. But this only led to widespread protests and even more raves. This film is about the friendship between Scottish teenagers Spanner and Johnno. Johnno is about to move out of town and wants to spend his last night sampling the anarchic, spaced-out world of raves together with his best friend.

> Beats will be screened in the Louis Hartlooper Complex or Springhaver from 7 November
