The latest production by the Spanish choreographer Fernando Hernando Magadan is about the human desire for happiness. A desire that is deeply anchored in our dreams and cravings, and which is sometimes in itself a strategy designed to protect us or to survive. In Bending the Walls, dance is a metaphor for the psychological, physical and emotional forces that we deploy to withstand the pressures of life and pursue our perpetual search for happiness.
