For five days in late June and early July, Utrecht will be reverberating to chamber music. The brand-new artistic leader, cellist Harriet Krijgh, is the perfect person to guide you through the musical jungle and introduce you to some gems of compositions. Listen to classics, such as Schubert’s string quintet for two cellos, Franck’s piano quintet and Brahms’ first piano quartet, as well as work by less familiar composers, such as Korngold, Arensky, Katchaturian and Mahler. What’s more, Krijgh is organising a day to celebrate Vienna. Stages will be erected throughout the city, with TivoliVredenburg as the nerve centre. And top violinist Janine Jansen, artistic leader of the festival until 2016, will also be in Utrecht.
