Jhonie van Boeijen, Inside the drawer, 2016, oil on canvas

The young Dutch artist Jhonie van Boeijen (1992) magically transforms simple household items (a plug socket, a clock, the contents of the dishwasher) into hyper-realistic still life paintings. By confronting her audience with images of familiar everyday objects, things you normally don’t even notice, she hopes to evoke an unfamiliar feeling or forgotten memory.
