Utrecht and Amersfoort are brimming with activities showcasing the art movement De Stijl, which celebrates its 100th anniversary in 2017. The movement was set up by a group of artists, which included famous names like Rietveld and Mondriaan. The activities are continuing into the summer. There are routes that take cyclists and walkers past the most striking Rietveld buildings in Utrecht, an exhibition featuring Rietveld furniture in the Poortgebouw of the castle Slot Zuylen and a visit to the Mondriaanhuis in Amersfoort. But that’s not all; starting in September, the Centraal Museum will host an exhibition entitled ‘Droog’. The museum owns the largest collection of work by the Dutch design collective Droog Design, that worked with a variety of well-known Dutch designers. This exhibition features top pieces from this collection.
