The renowned dressmaker Reynolds Woodcock (Daniel Day-Lewis) and his sister are the spiders in the web of the glamourous British fashion scene of 1950s post-war London. They dress the aristocracy, film stars, socialites and women aspiring to high society in the smart style of ‘The House of Woodcock’. Women come and go in Woodcock’s life, providing this confirmed bachelor with both inspiration and companionship. But then he meets the young, self-serving Alma (Vicky Krieps), who soon worms her way into his life as his muse and lover. As his life is turned upside down, Woodcock starts to feel trapped by this claustrophobic relationship.
