‘Classical music with a twist’ would be the best way to describe Pieces of Tomorrow. On 30 March, you can listen to a classical masterpiece: Bach’s St Matthew Passion. But what’s so different about Pieces of Tomorrow? The musicians themselves explain briefly what they’re about to play and why, there’s no dress code (audience or orchestra) and you can take your drinks into the auditorium. If you only ever hear one piece of classical music live, it should be the St Matthew Passion. Bach put his heart and soul into this composition. The Nederlandse Bachvereniging will play the oratorio in ‘manageable’ pieces, assisted by host DJ St Paul and spectacular visuals designed to highlight the story told by the music.
