The Catharijne Convent Museum is one of the best kept late-mediaeval convent complexes in the Netherlands. This summer, it celebrates its 550th anniversary with an exhibition entitled Shelter, a surprising combination of works by international contemporary artists like Damien Hirst, leading Dutch fashion designer Jan Taminiau, sculptor Carl Andre, Danish-Vietnamese artist Danh Vo and Dutch artists Sarah van Sonsbeeck (who grew up in Utrecht) and Marlene Dumas, and paintings by Rembrandt van Rijn, Pieter Saenredam and many other mediaeval masters.
