In this musical road trip, director Eugene Jarecki takes you on a tour of America in a 1963 Rolls Royce once owned by ‘The King’: Elvis Presley. Over forty years since the death of the singer and just before the 2016 presidential elections, the documentary takes stock of the country as a whole. The result is a portrait of the American dream in critical times, an era in which according to the makers of this documentary, democracy is on the line. In the classic Rolls Royce, transformed into a small stage for the occasion, American celebrities (including Alec Baldwin, Chuck D, Emmylou Harris, Ethan Hawke and Mike Myers) take to the floor for a musical performance or political statement.

> The King will be screened at the Louis Hartlooper Complex and Film theatre ‘t Hoogt from 8 November
