This film by Guillermo del Toro is set in America during the Cold War, around 1962. Elisa (Sally Hawkins) lives a life of seclusion, imprisoned in the hidden, heavily guarded government laboratory where she works. Her life changes dramatically when she and her colleague Zelda (Octavia Spencer) discover a secret experiment. The film won the ‘Golden Lion’ at the Venice Film Festival.
