The final section of the concourse at Utrecht Central station was recently opened. It’s now difficult to imagine that this hyper-modern public transport hub was once a tiny local station. It had elegant waiting rooms where passengers could order a meal or a drink from one of the smartly dressed waiters. There was also a delightful outdoor area, where not only train passengers, but also local people could be found enjoying a 20 cent-glass of lemonade, wine or beer on warm summer days.
