The Utrecht Early Music Festival, the largest of its kind in the world, focuses on music from the mediaeval, renaissance and baroque periods. This year, visitors will be transported back to music of the Reformation and Counter-Reformation in the 15th and 16th centuries. It’s 500 years since Luther posted his ninety-five theses on the doors of All Saints’ Church Wittenberg. Artists in residence are Katharina Bäuml with Capella de la Torre and Lorenzo Ghielmi with La Divina Armonia. Over 225 concerts will be performed by experienced musicians and young professionals in the festival hub TivoliVredenburg and at various other venues in the city centre. During the last weekend of the festival, all 150 psalms by 150 different composers will be performed during 12 concerts. And be sure to keep an eye on the Dom Tower, where a daily carillon concert will sound.
