In 1992, the Utrecht-born architect Mart van Schijndel (1943-1999) had his ‘house of light and air’ built on Pieterskerkhof. It earned Van Schijndel the Rietveld Prize in 1995. The architect designed not only the house, but also the interior and furniture. The most experimental element is the glass doors with silicon sealant hinges. If you’d like to see this architectural wonder for yourself, there’s a guided tour of the house every first Sunday of the month. You need to book online.
