Mozart wrote the Magic Flute and the Requiem in the final months of his short life. The story of Holland Opera, in collaboration with Carthago Consort, young Nederlands Blazers Ensemble, Cappella Amsterdam and Mr Beam, is a combination of two worlds: the cold, black-and-white world of the Queen of the Night and the colourful world in which Prince Tamino lives and in which he becomes an adult. This results in an opera about the fear for and reconciliation with death, the desire for unconditional love and an ode to life.
