1998 - Vredenburgviaduct

Roze Zaterdag (literal translation: Pink Saturday) commemorates the gay protest in New York in 1969, which marked the beginning of the global fight for LGBTIQ+ rights. In the Netherlands, this fight started with a demonstration in Amsterdam in 1977, which was later named Roze Zaterdag. Since then, this day has been celebrated every year in June, each time in a different city. In 1998, the celebrations took place in Utrecht. The photo shows members of The Amsterdam Stetsons, a gay country and western dance club, marching through the city centre.
