SPRING: Time to stand still

In a world that keeps spinning faster, SPRING takes the time to think, feel and explore new visions of the future. For ten days, you can visit more than thirty (inter)national performances from theatre and dance to performances in public spaces.

5x SPRING

Renaissance

Finnish collective WAUHAUS makes its Dutch debut with a sensory, ritual experience. Light, dance, song and installation merge into a magical world in which imagination becomes tangible. The audience is invited to surrender to wonder, change and playfulness – an ode to the power of the unknown.

30 and 31 May 2025, Theater Kikker

UIRAPURU

This dance performance takes you into the enchanting world of the Brazilian forests and the legend of the Uirapuru bird, about a man who transforms into a bird. The piece reflects on centuries of colonial oppression and the efforts to erase indigenous cultures, but also on their resilience.

25 May 2025, Stadsschouwburg Utrecht

Dear Laila

Through a collection of photos, videos, sounds and memorabilia, you can piece together fragments from the life of a Palestinian family. The story follows a father explaining to his daughter where he grew up and why they cannot go there, reflecting displacement, resistance and the unrelenting fight for justice. An intimate, interactive installation for one spectator at a time.

23 to 25 May and 27 to 31 May 2025, Instituto Cervantes

Fatigue

In a world where work and production are central, Viktor Szeri investigates what happens when exhaustion becomes the starting point. How does the body relate to burnout? This solo performance seamlessly transitions into a club night, in which the experience continues.

23 May 2025, EKKO

Teenage Songbook of Love and Sex

Which songs defined your youth? In this unique musical performance, young people from Reykjavik and Utrecht rewrite the soundtrack of their generation. What if pop songs weren’t just about heteronormative love?

30 and 31 May 2025, Stadsschouwburg Utrecht

Pay what you want

To be as accessible as possible for everyone, there are a number of ‘pay what you want’ performances. Two must-sees.

INTO THE DIRT

There’s a temporary oasis in the middle of the busy Utrecht Centraal station. You can come in and stay for as long as you like. Slow down, maybe even take off your shoes. Sit or lie down for a moment to hear what, in our hurried rush, only our shoes will usually notice.

20 to 25 May 2025, Utrecht Central Station Pop Up Store

Laborious Walk

For six consecutive hours each day, Ely Daou walks in loops through various locations in the public space, engaging in one-on-one conversations in English, French, Spanish or Arabic with passers-by. You can listen in through headphones, experiencing moments of connection, (dis)connection, isolation, and the ever-shifting rhythm of the city.

22 to 25 May 2025, on various locations in the public space
