Transition Festival: Jazz of today

At Transition Festival, you’ll hear music rooted in tradition while simultaneously pushing boundaries.

The line-up features, among others, a duo performance from bass legend Dave Holland and guitar virtuoso Lionel Loueke, the spiritual jazz sounds of trumpeter Theo Croker and vocalist Ami Taf Ra and the young Haitian-American jazz sensation Tyreek McDole. Another promising voice is that of Canadian singer Dominique Fils-Aimé (pictured), who brings the history of African-American musical culture to life through her vocal jazz. There’s also room for genre-defying sounds. The Belgian electro-acoustic jazz trio De Beren Gieren are making their mark with an innovative blend of jazz, classical and electronic music.

Transition Kids

One day after the Transition Festival for grownups, Tivoli­Vredenburg will be organising a mini festival for up-and-coming jazz fans. Groove Beest with Zuco 103, the Benjamin Herman Trio, Sanne Sanne and others will perform and there also are fun workshops to take part in.
