Flamenco Biënnale: La Reina del Metal

In its Intermezzo series, the Flamenco Biennale presents ‘La Reina del Metal’, the festival creation of 2023. Dance maker Vanesa Aibar and percussionist Enric Monfort explore the outer limits of movement and sound. From flamenco rhythms, sizzling metal percussion and electronics, they create an overwhelming flamenco soundscape. Body becomes sound, sound becomes body. Aibar, dressed in chains and whalebones, throws off the chains of flamenco and draws new, exciting flamenco faces with musical jack-of-all-trades Monfort. The Dutch collective 4DSOUND immerses you in a flamenco sound bath that will reverberate for a long time to come.
