Lamusa: The Music Makers

Chamber choir Lamusa performs The Music Makers by Edward Elgar, a grand and compelling work for choir and orchestra. The text, a poem by Arthur O’Shaughnessy, is an ode to artists. Through their dreams and visions, they can create and destroy entire worlds, thereby keeping the real world in motion. Lamusa will perform the work in an arrangement for chamber choir and small orchestra that has never before been performed in the Netherlands.

The remainder of the programme consists of reflective American choral music, mostly a cappella, by composers such as Aaron Copland and Samuel Barber, who wrote choral song cycles based on poems by writers including Walt Whitman and Emily Dickinson.
