Youth Orchestra Netherlands Winter Tour

The talented orchestra, comprising young musicians aged 14 to 21, presents a selection of timeless classics and contemporary surprises.

The concert commences with the powerful and dramatic tones of Verdi’s overture ‘La forza del destino.’ This piece, with its passionate melodies, narrates a story of fate, love, and tragedy.

Moving to the second piece, we welcome Princess Christina Competition finalist António Paulo Martins Melo, who will perform the enchanting alto saxophone concerto by Henri Tomasi. Tomasi’s work combines lyrical passages with virtuosic outbursts. Together with Melo’s exceptional talent, this guarantees a breathtaking performance that will linger in your memory.

The evening concludes with Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures at an Exhibition,’ in a magnificent orchestration by Maurice Ravel.
