Through smartphones and social media, technology promises to bring us closer together. From close family to distant acquaintances and strangers, everyone is within reach, and still loneliness has increased in recent years. The continual and rapid growth of technology makes for drastic changes in the way connections are formed: with each other, with ourselves and with nature. Is connection still a thing in the digital age? Is technology able to provide the connection that people long for? Or are our devices slowly taking the place of human contact?

With the new exhibition In Touch, IMPAKT [Centre for Media Culture] explores forms of connection in times of digital humanity. Immerse yourself in interactive works of art, audiovisual experiences, virtual reality and AI, and discover the thin line between connection and disconnection. Through immersive and playful works you get the opportunity to experience first-hand what it means to engage emotionally with technology and with others through technology, and what it means to be connected.

In Touch opens on 22 March 2024 (freely accessible), and is on show from 23 March until 4 May 2024, every Wednesday to Sunday, from 12:00 – 18:00.
