Great Catch II, Fresh taste of circus

The Circus Coalition has selected three short pieces from a new generation of circus artists for the second edition of Great Catch – a fresh taste of circus. They showcase their unique talent in funny, moving, and personal theater performances.

Luuk Brantjes has specialized in the possibilities of the teeterboard, which can transform strength into a state of weightlessness. In L O N E, he reflects on the balance between being alone or lonely. In a world where we are constantly connected, the fear of being alone seems to have grown. L O N E is a tribute to singles, to free spirits, to everyone’s inventive self.

Acrobat trio Tête-bêche combines the game of the diabolo with partner acrobatics in 3+1. Marieke Thijssen, Charlie Wheeler, and Wilko Schütz create a complex web of hypnotic choreographies, interspersed with spectacular moments where not only the diabolo but also the acrobats fly through the air.

Harvey Cobb won the BNG Bank Circus Prize in 2022 with his quirky mix of comedy, improvisation, and juggling. Harvey performs a segment from his hilarious solo Pink Boots and An Alcoholic Sock Puppet. It’s a blend of wacky stand-up, heartfelt sincerity, and an abundance of pink boots, leaving you wondering if everything is going terribly wrong or exactly according to plan.
