The film is a unique and poignant piece that navigates between documentary and fiction. Olfa is the mother of four girls. One day, her two eldest daughters disappear. Director Kaouther Ben Hania tells the story of their disappearance alongside Olfa, her two remaining daughters, and professional actors. It’s an intimate narrative full of hope, resistance, and sorrow about clashing worlds and what it means to be a mother or sister. “Four Daughters” is nominated for the Best Documentary Oscar and was selected for the Cannes Film Festival competition, where it won the Best Documentary Prize and the Positive Cinema Award. The film was also one of the audience favorites at the IFFR. Olfa, her daughters, and the actresses will take you into the family’s world and leave you stunned at the end.
