This exhibition looks at creator, human and society from disability – in everyday experiences and art full of fantasy. The Kreukelcollectief  – a group of disabled artists, activists and researchers – turns the idea of a makeable life on its head.

Disability is both private and public. Anyone can face disability at any time, but at the same time it is taboo. In collaboration with the Kreukelcollectief, Centraal Museum presents an exhibition that examines disability in all its facets: from prevailing stereotypes and stigmas, to disability as artistic expression and identity. Centraal Museum’s collection is the starting point and will be revised from the perspective of disability in co-creation with the Kreukelcollectief. In what ways is disability presented in the collection, and where exactly is this representation lacking?
