Director Ted Huffman’s adaptation of ‘L’Incoronazione di Poppea’ was a hit at the opera festivals in Aix-en-Provence and Versailles. Reason for the Reisopera to bring the show to the Netherlands. The most flamboyant Shakespeare dramas and the best current TV series pale in comparison to this story when it comes to clearly depicting the passions of humanity – from the bedroom to the political arena. And all that combined with the beautiful music of Monteverdi.
