Vloeimans’ world is a big one! He plays with large orchestras like the Marine Band and Holland Baroque, with the ensembles Gatecrash and HOTSPOT! and also in smaller line-ups with his trios Levanter and Oliver’s Cinema.

Vloeimans’ favourite line-ups also include the duo formation, in which the intimate, atmospheric aspects of his music are done full justice – as convincingly demonstrated in his duos with harpist Remy van Kesteren, flamenco guitarist Eric Vaarzon Morel, accordionist Will Holshouser and pianist Juan Pablo Dobal.

One musician with whom Vloeimans feels closely associated is German improviser Jörg Brinkmann, an all-rounder on his cello. He strings, plucks, and even plays “guitar” on it. He also knows how to use electronics to create rich soundscapes and grooving loops, created on the spot. Since Vloeimans & Brinkmann got to know each other, through Composer of the Netherlands Martin Fondse, they have often worked together. In their new programme, both musicians combine their own work with compositions by Ennio Morricone as well as the legacy of Charles Aznavour.
