In its calm moments, The Vernon Spring sometimes sounds like Nils Frahm, but echoes of Unknown Mortal Orchestra, James Blake and Joni Mitchell also resound. Beste has a long musical CV, most notably being Amy Winehouse’s live pianist. Since its launch in 2019, The Vernon Spring has released two albums of its own, mid-January releasing the single Norton, in which Beste also samples his own work with Hejira with a wink.
