Tussen twee Oevers
In the exhibition “Tussen twee Oevers,” artists Geertje Brandenburg and Faria van Creij-Callender present new works at Kunsthal Kloof. From a shared fascination about the diversity of identity, the artists explore the connections between their artistic practices. Both weave personal memories into scenes full of daydreams and hidden symbolism.
Working from a large visual archive, Geertje Brandenburg (Rotterdam, 1998) intertwines elements of herself with those of her family and strangers. In collage-like installations, she explores the plurality of identity. Alongside her multidisciplinary art practice, she is the founder and curator of ‘de Ijskast’, a nomadic art platform based in Rotterdam.
In her artistic practice, Faria van Creij-Callender (Amsterdam, 1998) chooses “not to choose” between one or the other. She weaves together both her Dutch and Surinamese identities in a personal, free interpretation of identity and environment. Faria won the Royal Award for Modern Painting in 2024 and also serves as an ambassador for Young Stedelijk.
The festive opening of “Tussen twee Oevers” will take place on November 21 from 8:00 PM at Kunsthal Kloof.
21 November t/m 21 December 2025, Monday to Saturday 12:00-00:00, closed on Sunday.
