McCall has an avant-garde approach to Hip-hop dance styles, where he focuses on enhancing the expressive qualities while remaining true to integrity. His work revolves around the authenticity of the human experience and the grandeur of imagination. It is intense, poetic, and visually strong. The hip-hop creed of ‘making something out of nothing’ is strongly present in these pieces. By emphasizing the here and now, changing the space with self-manipulated light, and moving away from traditional black box theater.
