Opening outdoor exposition ‘Your Place, Your Words

Are the Botanic Gardens your favourite place in Utrecht? In this expositon you read the best results of the poetry competition ‘Utrecht: Your Place, Your Words’. The exposition lasts untill 1 December.

Every place tells a story. With Utrecht: Your Place, Your Words, we invite you to think of a place in the province of Utrecht that holds a special meaning for you and write about it in a poem. Is it the square where you meet up with your friends, a traffic light you cycle past every day, or the bakery of your childhood that no longer exists? Or is it that one part of the Botanic Gardens? What does that place represent for you? 

Deadline: midnight CEST (UTC+2) on 27 May 2026

• Submission requirements (more details):
  • Mention or refer to at least one place in the city or province of Utrecht.
  • Poems must not exceed 200 words. Audio or video submissions should not be longer than 3 minutes.
  • They can be in any language or multilingual.
• Prizes: 100 euros for each of four winners, and two (two persons) tickets to a FC Utrecht match.
