This year we celebrate 900 years of city rights in Utrecht! On June 2, 1122, Emperor Hendrik V gave the people of Utrecht city rights. Utrecht officially became a city, as one of the first in the country. During this city walk, our experienced guide will tell you everything about how Utrecht obtained its city rights 900 years ago. All your questions will be answered, such as: “Why did Utrecht receive city rights and where were these signed?” You will also hear everything about the influence this has had on the city of Utrecht and how it is still developing today.

During this city walk there are a number of stops that you will visit together with your guide, which are characteristic of the beginnings of Utrecht as a city. Be surprised by the beautiful places in the city center and get to know the story about the origin of Utrecht!
