Pint of pilsner

The people of Utrecht have always enjoyed a pint. The De Krans brewery, founded in 1840 on Nieuwekade, was the first Utrecht brewery not located on Oudegracht. In 1888, De Krans brewery took over De Kroes brewery, and around 1900, the entire production was moved to Croeselaan, close to where Utrecht Centraal Station now is. In the early twentieth century, De Krans beer was a popular beverage throughout the Netherlands. But the golden era came to an end: in 1930, the brewery was sold. Eight years later, the entire concern was demolished to make way for Graadt van Roggenweg.
