There was a huge housing crisis in 1991, just like now. Back then, squatters decided to erect a barricade on Croeselaan to prevent the eviction of several squats. Carpets, chairs, tables: all household goods were thrown on the street. It didn’t help in the end, as the squatters were evicted from the buildings anyway.
