Contributing to a more sustainable future is quite easy in Utrecht, with department store Green UP being located in the monumental building on the corner of Oudegracht and Stadhuisbrug.
The monumental corner building was originally built in the 19th century to house department store Magazijn De Zon. In the next 2,5 years, the building will return to its original use with Green UP, the largest sustainable department store in the Netherlands. A collective of sustainable entrepreneurs filled the 1.400 m2 with a shop-in-shop concept that offers a wide range of products, from vintage home accessories and furniture, eco conscious gifts to fair fashion, food-to-go and ecological beauty and care products. There also is a botanical courtyard with food & beer garden Botania, that offers a menu with mostly locally sourced and organic food and drinks.
