Throwback

Throwback: 1949 - Golo Automatenhal

An automat is a fast food restaurant that sells snacks from vending machines. This was already a thing in the thirties. In this photo, you see the interior of lunchroom and cafeteria Golo Automatenhal in Koekoekstraat, with the vending machine on the left and owner Alphons van Gool behind the counter on the right. At that time, you could buy a croquette for a quarter.
