Afrovibes Festival: Hummingbird / Colibri & Performance D

Afrovibes Festival comes to Theater Kikker with two performances that explore the connections between land, identity, memory and cultural heritage. Part of the festival’s 23rd edition, this year’s programme is centred around the theme Soil | Soul.

The evening opens with Humming-Bird / Colibri by choreographer and dancer Abdoulaye Trésor Konaté. In this intimate solo, the hummingbird becomes a symbol of resilience, care and the power of small acts. The performance is followed by an artist talk. Between the two performances, audiences can enjoy a short foyer programme.

In Performance D, choreographer and dancer Fatou Cissé explores how people relate to one another on shared and at times contested ground. Two dancers engage in a physical dialogue in which attraction and resistance, vulnerability and power are constantly shifting. Through her expressive movement language, Cissé makes tangible how living together requires attunement, friction, and surrender.

The performances can be attended individually or with a discounted combined ticket.
