Afrovibes Festival: Hummingbird / Colibri & I Want Revenge, Grandma

Afrovibes Festival: Hummingbird / Colibri & I Want Revenge, Grandma

Afrovibes Festival comes to Theater Kikker with two performances that explore the connections between land, identity, memory and cultural heritage. Part of the festival’s 23rd edition, this year’s programme is centred around the theme Soil | Soul.

The evening opens with Humming-Bird / Colibri by choreographer and dancer Abdoulaye Trésor Konaté. In this intimate solo, the hummingbird becomes a symbol of resilience, care and the power of small acts. The performance is followed by an artist talk. Between the two performances, audiences can enjoy a short foyer programme.

In I Want Revenge, Grandma, performer Colleen Ndemeh Fitzgerald explores how the legacy of colonialism continues to shape the present. Set around a mound of earth, the performance weaves together personal memories, family history and the significance of ancestral land into a powerful reflection on identity, healing and belonging. A post-show conversation with the artist follows the performance.

The performances can be attended individually or with a discounted combined ticket.
